Business Intern

Legal Intern

Location: Washington, DC (mostly remote)

Internship Duration: Minimum 2.5 months

Hours: 15-30 hours per week

 

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with startups, providing invaluable support as they navigate their formation journeys. You will be conducting research, producing business planning tools, and engaging directly with our clients to help them realize their goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

​

  • Research and share best practices for startup enterprises.

  • Assist clients with developing business plans and testing business models.

  • Develop and produce project and task management tools and operational/administrative processes that assist clients in their strategic growth.

  • Meet with each client at least once a month to discuss their progress and provide guidance.

  • Collaborate with an expert founder and tech innovator with experience in major tech companies.

  • Assist in identifying resources and support networks for clients.

Qualifications:

​

  • Enrollment in or completion of a university business program with a focus on management, business analytics, innovation and entrepreneurship, or sustainability preferred.

  • Experience related to startup strategy, product and service development, market research, business planning, budgeting, and financial projections for startups would be a plus.

  • Strong research and analytical skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Adaptable, receptive to instruction and feedback, and empathetic.

  • Ability to articulate intrinsic motivations, experiences applying strong interpersonal skills, and capacity for self-guided learning.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

  • Passion for social impact and supporting emerging leaders.

This internship/externship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic legal environment while supporting organizations making a positive social or environmental impact. You will contribute to our mission by assisting with legal research, drafting documents, and providing advisory support to our clients.

 

Key Responsibilities:

​

  • Conduct legal research related to nonprofits and startups.

  • Assist in drafting legal documents and providing support for client matters.

  • Collaborate with attorneys to prepare advisory materials and client resources.

  • Participate in client meetings and support the delivery of legal guidance.

​

Qualifications:

​

  • Currently enrolled in a law school program, preferably having completed your first year.

  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.

  • Adaptable, receptive to instruction and feedback, and empathetic.

  • Able to articulate intrinsic motivations, experiences applying strong interpersonal skills, and capacity for self-guided learning.

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Passion for social justice and legal access.

  • Familiarity with nonprofit or social enterprise issues is a plus.
